PALM COAST, Fla. – The Purdue men's golf team dominated Rutgers in this afternoon's Big Ten Match Play Championship held at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Fla.
The Boilermakers defeated the Scarlet Knights by a 4-1-0 decision to cruise into Saturday morning's semifinals against fourth-seeded Indiana, a 2-0-3 victor over No. 5-seed Penn State.
The Boilermakers have now reached the semifinals in four of the nine Match Play Championships under head coach Rob Bradley. The last time Purdue reached the semifinals came in 2018, the year Purdue would eventually win the championship.
Purdue dominated up-and-down the lineup, with its five golfers winning 30 of the 78 holes played (38 percent). Leading the charge was Andrew Farraye, who won seven of his 12 holes, breezed to a 7-and-6 triumph over Brendan Hansen. Farraye won the first three holes and never looked back.
Joe Weiler also dominated his matchup at the top of the order, posting a 4-and-3 victory over Luke Wells. Weiler fell 1-down after the first hole, but then won four of the next five holes to take a commanding lead en route to winning seven of the 15 holes.
Nick Dentino and Luke Prall both won by 2-and-1 margins to secure Purdue's spot in the semifinals. Neither of them would trail in their matches, winning in 17 holes.
Cole Bradley suffered a 2-and-1 setback to Xavier Marcoux.
