WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team returned to the Schwartz Tennis Center on Saturday after a streak of road matches to take on the Bellarmine Knights and the Eastern Illinois Panthers.
NOTES
PURDUE VS. BELLARMINE
After a cold streak in doubles, Tomasz Dudek and Andre Suzanne were able to edge out the first point, leaving an opening for Michal Wozniak and Milledge Cossu to take over the point for the Boilers.
A quick start for Julen Morgan allowed him to edge out his first singles win of the season at No. 6 over Bellarmine's Matthew Rice, 6-0, 6-1. Following suit, Rohan Sachdev had a strong beginning to his match to overtake Emil Berglund, 6-0.
The Boilermakers finished with a 7-0 sweep of the Bellarmine Knights.
PURDUE VS. EASTERN ILLINOIS
Athell Bennett and Gabriele Brancatelli spoke early in the doubles match to take the first finish over Eastern Illinois' Cameron Slabbert and Leighton Brandon, 6-2. Milledge Cossu and Michal Wozniak answered the call soon after to raise Purdue's score 1-0.
Michal Wozniak and Milledge Cossu swept the first set of their single's match to give the Boilers an early start.
Eastern Illinois received their first win of the season over Bellarmine before taking on Purdue.
Rohan Sachdev sealed the deal at No. 5 over Pau Riera, 6-1, 6-1, followed by Michal Wozniak's sweep of Thomas Wallace, 6-0, 6-0 to improve the Boilermaker's score to 4-0 over the Panthers.
Purdue continued their winning streak this afternoon by overtaking Eastern Illinois, raising their overall season record to 5-6.
