EVANSTON, Ill. - Timely jump shots and the free throw line eluded Purdue Women's Basketball in a hard-fought contest at Northwestern on Thursday night, with the Boilermakers yielding a 68-51 result to the home team Wildcats on their Senior Day at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

With opportunities to chip away at Northwestern's second-half lead, Purdue was just off-the-mark situationally on an otherwise solid evening from the field. The Boilermakers finished the game with a 44.0-percent showing on field goals (22-for-50), outpacing the Wildcats' 36.9 percent (24-for-65).

The previously mentioned charity stripe was a difference maker for Northwestern, as the home squad netted 11 points (16 attempts) against Purdue's two (3 attempts).

Junior guard Jeanae Terry (Detroit, Mich.) finished one rebound shy of a double-double, but matched a career-high with 12 assists. Terry led the way on the glass with her nine boards.

Carrying the flag for head coach Katie Gearlds' squad on the defensive front was freshman guard Ava Learn (Hyde Park, N.Y.), who totaled three blocked shots in the first half to reset her season high in the category before the halftime break. She finished the game with four points and six rebounds, as well.

The block party was not just for Learn, as Purdue's eight total blocks as a team matched the squad's second-best total of the season behind the nine at Indiana (Feb. 6, 2022).

Junior guard Abbey Ellis (Melbourne, Australia) had a team-best eight points for the Boilers at the halftime break, converting 4-of-6 field goal attempts. She finished with a team-leading 12 points for the game.

Northwestern's Lauryn Satterwhite scored 20 points to lead the winning side. She sank 4-of-8 three-point field goal attempts as part of the Wildcats' overall 9-for-28 deep-range performance. Conversely, Purdue posted a 5-for-17 night from beyond the three-point line.

The Boilermakers started hot, hitting 6-of-11 field goal attempts in the first period for a 54.5-percent success rate. The frenzied first quarter ended with Northwestern holding a slim 17-15 advantage.

Purdue cooled off slightly during the second quarter (5-for-13 FG), and deep-range marksmanship by Northwestern helped the Wildcats establish a 34-25 halftime advantage. The home squad was a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point territory during the second quarter.
