<br /><br />The Purdue men's tennis team came up short in its road match at Wichita State on Sunday, falling 6-1.

WICHITA, Kan. – The Purdue men's tennis team came up short in its road match at Wichita State on Sunday, falling 6-1.

For the second straight day, the Boilermakers dropped doubles after needing a third match to decide the opening point. Following a 6-0 win by the Shockers at No. 3, Michal Wozniak and Piotr Galus evened the score with a 6-4 win at No. 2 against Jackie Lin and Orel Ovil. Athell Bennett and Milledge Cossu narrowly came up short against Nicolas Acevedo and Luka Mrsic in a 7-5 decision at No. 1.

In singles, the Shockers picked up won a trio of matches in straight sets at No. 3, 2 and 6 and benefitted from a Purdue retirement at No. 4.

Rohan Sachdev was the lone Boilermaker to get on the board. The freshman knocked off Ray Lo at No. 5 in a super tiebreak, 7-5, 6-4, 10-5.

Bennett took Acevedo to a third set at No. 1 before falling 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.

After four tough road matches against top teams to start the year, Purdue will make its 2022 home debut next Saturday at the Schwartz Tennis Center with a doubleheader against Chicago State and IUPUI.
