WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – After falling behind 0-2 to the Dayton Flyers, the No. 6 seeded Purdue Boilermakers (25-6, 15-5 B1G) stormed back to take the final three sets for the 3-2 reverse sweep victory (25-27, 19-25, 25-15, 25-6, 15-6).

After posting 16 errors in the first two sets, the Boilermakers totaled just one error over the final three to win the match. Meanwhile, despite starting the first two sets with a combined four blocks, Purdue put on a blocking clinic to end the day with 15 team blocks.

Not only did Purdue's 25-6 set win tie a program record (set earlier this season vs. Purdue Fort Wayne on September 17 and then matched again vs. Rutgers on October 2, the defensive effort led to a pair of NCAA tournament records for Purdue. Jena Otec produced a school-best 27 digs (previous: 24, Carly Cramer vs. #11 Minnesota, 12/7/12), while the team's 26 block assists tied the effort vs. Florida State on December 12, 2012.

While the Boilermakers ended the night with a .279 attack %, Purdue's efficiency reached as high as .500 in the fourth set and .464 in the third.

The Boilermakers were led by Hayley Bush, who posted 49 assists and 11 digs for her 15th double-double of the season. Meanwhile, Grace Cleveland totaled 17 kills with just one error on 34 swings for a .471 attack % to go alongside seven total blocks (1-6). Additionally, Caitlyn Newton secured her own double-double with 19 kills, 11 digs and a trio of block assists.

Taylor Trammell came off the bench in the second set to post seven block assists, along with an errorless five kills on seven attempts (.714 attack %, second-highest mark this season). Also serving as an impact player was Maddy Chinn, who went errorless as well with four kills on 18 swings.

Purdue's five set victory marked the first to come during the NCAA tournament since 2012 (vs. Florida State, W, 3-2) and the first in a reverse sweep fashion.

Purdue was the first of the 16 teams to punch its ticket to the Regional Semifinals, which will take place December 9 and 11. Purdue must wait until the result of the No. 4 seeded Pittsburgh vs. Penn State match Saturday at 7 p.m. ET before Purdue's Regional location is determined. Since the advantage of hosting is given to the higher seed, the Boilermakers will host the Regionals in Mackey Arena if Pittsburgh loses, or will play at Pittsburgh should the Panthers win Saturday night.
