WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A pair of event victories from both Kate Beavon and Maggie Love propelled Purdue women's swimming & Diving to a 175.5-122.5 win in dual meet action vs. Rutgers on Friday at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.

The Boilermakers won eight of the 16 events, enjoying at least 1-2 finishes in five of those victories. That helped Purdue win the dual comfortably despite the even split on event victories.

Beavon swept the distance freestyle events. Love was victorious in the 100 breast and 200 individual medley to go along with a runner-up showing in the 200 backstroke. The freshman posted Purdue season-best times in the 100 breast and 200 back.

Hannah Hill (50 free) and Sophie McAfee (1-meter diving) registered their first collegiate victories. Love and Hill also contributed to the Boilermakers' victorious 200 medley relay to begin the meet, teaming with Masy Folcik and Lindsay Turner.

Purdue dominated the breaststroke events, including a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 and 1-2 showing in the 200. Folcik placed second to Love in the 100 and teamed up with freshman Mahala Erlandson for the 1-2 finish in the 200. Erlandson was also part of the Boilermakers' 1-2-3 finish in the 200 IM – teaming with classmates Love and Madeline Greaves for the strong showing.

Hill and Jade Knueppel finished 1-2 in the 50 free while Beavon and Abby Jahns did likewise in the 500. Hill accounted for a team season-best time of 23.32 in the 50.

Purdue posted season-best times in both relays and the meet ended in exciting fashion with a great finish in the 400 free relay. Rutgers out touched the Boilermakers by .06 hundredths of a second. Purdue's quartet was Amy Fu, Rachel Young, Kendra Bowen and Hill.

Individually, Bowen was also part of another tight finish in the 200 free, an event in which only .44 hundredths separated first from fourth place. Bowen was out touched by .09 hundredths for the event victory.

The Boilermakers are back in action next Friday (Nov. 5) when they host Michigan and Missouri for a co-ed triple dual at 2 p.m. ET.
