WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers (14-4, 6-3 B1G) fell to Michigan State (9-9, 2-7 B1G) in five sets, 16-25, 27-25, 23-25, 25-16, 10-15 inside Holloway Gymnasium. 

Hayley Bush recorded a season-high 53 assists in the match to pair with 15 digs, marking her eighth double-double of the season and the second consecutive outing the setter recorded a season-best in assists. Meanwhile, junior Maddie Schermerhorn recorded a career-best 12 digs.

Overall, the Spartan offense proved a formidable opponent, taking the edge in most statistical categories, except for digs, which Purdue held the advantage, 69-56.

Emma Ellis proved a momentum booster for Purdue after entering in the fourth set. The Charlotte, North Carolina product went errorless with three kills on five attempts (.600 attack %) while putting up two block assists in the fourth set. With Ellis' help, Purdue registered nine unanswered points to seal the set win.

Purdue will be back in action this Saturday in Lincoln, Nebraska, as Purdue will face the No. 9 Nebraska Huskers at 9 p.m. ET on Big Ten Network.
