COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 6 Purdue volleyball squad (13-3, 5-2 B1G) suffered just the second loss of the Big Ten season to No. 7 Ohio State (15-2, 5-2 B1G) with a 3-1 (23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 21-25) final score in the Covelli Center.
The loss marked the first for the Boilermakers after three consecutive wins, including last month when the team took down the No. 3 Buckeyes in Holloway, 3-2.
Two Boilermakers, Caitlyn Newton (16 kills, 11 digs) and Grace Cleveland (11 kills, 10 total blocks) recorded double-doubles in the effort, while Raven Colvin set a career-best seven block assists. Meanwhile, in her first career start, Maddie Schermerhorn tied a career-high 11 digs.
Libero Jena Otec worked alongside Schermerhorn to registered 25 digs, tying a season-best after facing 33 total receptions.
Playmaker Hayley Bush served up 36 assists over the four sets, adding six digs, three block assists and a trio of kills. The graduate student went errorless on the attack on her way to a .600 hitting %.
