HARTFORD, Wis. – The Purdue men's golf team started its 2021-22 campaign on a high note, finishing third at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills Golf Course.

The Boilermakers totaled a 54-hole tally of 26-under par 838 (275-278-285) to finish just six shots behind No. 16-ranked Texas A&M and two shots behind No. 40-ranked South Florida. The Boilermakers defeated nationally-ranked squads Notre Dame (No. 24) by 16 shots and Liberty (No. 25) by 15 shots.

East Tennessee State (-19) and Kansas (-18) rounded out the top five. The event featured six Big Ten teams including Purdue. Northwestern was the top Big Ten finisher at eighth (-9).

Purdue's 54-hole total of 838 marks the fourth-lowest cumulative score in school history and its 26-under par is second in school history in relation to par. Purdue posted even- or under-par scores in all three rounds for the 10th time in school history.

Leading the way was senior Cole Bradley, who finished tied for sixth at 8-under par 208 (67-70-71). Bradley ranked eighth in the field with 39 pars and recorded no double bogeys or worse in the 54 holes. He had 10 birdies and an eagle against just four bogeys during the tournament.

Senior Joe Weiler was one shot behind at 7-under par 209 (69-67-73), good for 10th place. Weiler posted his ninth career top-10 finish, now ranking 12th on the Purdue career top-10 finishes list. Weiler had no bogeys in his first 36 holes, but had a slow start to today's round. He righted the ship with three straight birdies on Nos. 10 through 12 to get back to even par before a bogey on 16 dropped him to 1-over par.

Sophomore Herman Sekne had a strong tournament, finishing tied for 12th at 5-under par 211 (67-74-70). Sekne had four birdies in a seven-hole stretch midway through his round to get to 3-under par for his round before a bogey on 16 dropped him to 2-under par. The top-20 finish marks his third career top-20 finish in just eight events.

Sophomore Luke Prall was playing in his first collegiate action and responded well with a T-22 finish at 3-under par 213 (74-68-71). Prall had a whirlwind day en route to his 71, recording five birdies, four bogeys and nine pars.

Andrew Farraye finished tied for 63rd at 6-over par 222 (72-73-77).

Meanwhile, three other Boilermakers played an individual tournament at the Washington County Golf Course, playing only 36 holes. Nick Dentino finished fifth at 9-under par 135 (68-67), while Nic Hofman finished tied for 22nd at 1-over par 145 (72-73) and freshman Kent Hsiao was 26th at 2-over par 146 (72-74).
