OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – The Purdue men's golf team managed just six birdies and fell seven spots to 12th after 36 holes at the Olympia Fields Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Boilermakers totaled an 11-over par 291 for a 36-hole total of 19-over par 579 (288-291). Purdue trails leader North Carolina by 18 shots, but is just eight shots behind fourth-place Indiana and four shots behind seventh place. A total of nine teams are within eight shots between fourth and 12th place.
A pair of Boilermakers sit in the top 20 as Joe Weiler is tied for ninth and Herman Sekne is tied for 17th.
Weiler is tied for ninth at 1-over par 141 (69-72). Weiler was 4-over par through 14 holes today, but managed birdies on 15 and 18 to move back to 2-over par for the round and back into the top 10. Weiler had three of Purdue's six birdies on the day.
Sekne is tied for 17th at 2-over par 142 (70-72). Sekne had 14 pars, one birdie and three bogeys on his round.
Luke Prall is tied for 43rd at 7-over par 147 (74-73), Cole Bradley is tied for 57th at 10-over par 150 (76-74) and Nick Dentino is tied for 67th at 12-over par 152 (75-77).
Purdue will tee off at 8:45 to 9:21 a.m. ET, off hole No. 10 in Sunday's final round and will be paired with Illinois and Baylor.
