WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's golf team pieced together two solid rounds and sit in a second-place tie after 36 holes at the Boilermaker Invitational held at the Kampen Course.

Most teams were able to finish their second rounds before darkness fell. However, about three groups remained on the course and those groups will conclude round two Sunday morning, before everyone begins their third and final rounds with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET.

The Boilermakers fired a 36-hole total of 6-under par 570 (282-288) to trail leader Indiana by four shots. The Boilermakers are tied with Kent State (two groups remaining), are one shot ahead of Illinois and three shots in front of Minnesota. Those five teams are the only teams under par.

Nearly perfect conditions greeted the golfers this morning, and scores reflected the good scoring conditions. In round two, a heavy rain squall moved in about midway through the round and showers fell intermittently for the remainder of the round before the horn blew at about 8:30 p.m. ET, tor darkness.

Leading the Boilermakers is freshman Herman Sekne, who sits in T-4th at 3-under par 141 (68-73). Sekne shared the lead after 18 holes and is just three shots off the pace set by Minnesota's Angus Ferguson (138).

Joe Weiler also had a strong day, sitting in T-11th at 2-under par 142 (69-73). Weiler was rolling in round one at 4-under par before a double-bogey on the par-5 16th brought him back to the pack.

Cole Bradley had a consistent day on the links, posting a pair of even-par 72s for a 144, good for T-20th.

Peyton Snoeberger is tied for 26th at 1-over par 145 (73-72), while Nick Dentino is tied for 36th at 3-over par 147 (76-71).

The Boilermakers are looking for their first Boilermaker Invitational title since 2011.
