COLUMBUS, Ohio Purdue men's swimming posted another NCAA automatic qualifying time in a medley relay and racked up 100 points in the individual events thanks to seven scoring finishes on the first full day of the Big Ten Championships.

Along with teaming up to register the program's second-fastest time (3:05.92) in the 400 medley relay, Nikola Aćin, Trent Pellini and Nick Sherman also accounted for career bests individually that rank among the top three in the record book.

Aćin returned to the A final of the 50 free, becoming just the third Boilermaker to ever go under 19.4 seconds in the 50 freestyle. Even at 19.39 in the fastest event of the championships, the junior had to settle for seventh place. Just .25 hundredths separated second from seventh place.

Pellini (1:44.00) and Sherman (1:44.13) moved into second and third place in program history in the 200 IM, both Boilermakers qualifying for the A final – finishing fifth and seventh. They each made a run at Guillermo Blanco's 2015 program record (1:43.87) in the prelims while posing NCAA provisional qualifying times (B Cuts).

Pellini and Aćin helped power Purdue to another A Cut in the 400 medley relay. Both All-Americans posted 100-yard splits that were faster than the program records in those events. Aćin closed the race with a split of 41.44, the fastest in the entire race. The Purdue record in the 100 free is 42.84. Pellini's 100 breast split was 51.01; the senior's program record is 51.76. Meanwhile, Michael Juengel's leadoff leg split of 46.97 does officially rank tied for second all-time in the 100 backstroke.

The Boilermakers finished fourth in the 400 medley relay, matching their showing the night before in the 200. Purdue is also in fourth place in the team scoring.

Senior Ryan Lawrence matched his career best of 19.69 while taking third in the B final of the 50 free. Ryan Hrosik (19.87) won the C final of the 50 free while improving on his prelim time by .16 hundredths of a second. Both times were B Cuts.

Batuhan Hakan accounted for another B Cut and Purdue season-best time (4:22.61) while scoring in the C final of the 500 free. Brett Riley also scored in the C final of the 200 IM.

The Big Ten Championships continue Thursday with the 100 fly, 400 IM and 200 free. Prelims begins at 11 a.m. ET and finals at 6:30 p.m.
