AUGUSTA, Ga. – A day after recording its lowest 18-hole collective score, the women's golf team bettered it by a stoke in carding a 2-under 286 in the final round of the the Vaslspar Invitational on Sunday. The Boilermakers improved their overall standing one spot from Saturday's opening two rounds, finishing seventh overall in the 16-team field with a 54-hole score of 1-over 865 (292-287-286).
Junior Thitapa Pakdeesettakul turned in an outstanding third-round score, finishing with a 3-under 69 Sunday. She carded four birdies against a lone bogey in the final 18. Her 54-hole total of 1-under 215 (70+76+69=215) placed her in a tie for 17th in the individual standings, her second top 20 finish of the year.
Senior Inez Wanamarta (75-71-72=218) and sophomore Sifat Sagoo (73-71-74=218) tied for 28th individually. Wanamarta shot an even-par 72 in the final round Sunday.
Playing as an individual, junior Danielle du Toit shared a spot at 28th with a three-round tally of 218 (73-71-74).
Sophomore Kan Bunnabodee (76-73-71=220) posted a 1-under 71 Sunday and finished the tournament in a tie for 37th overall.
South Carolina won the team title with a three-round score of 30-under 834. The Gamecocks' Pauline Roussin-Bouch was the individual medal winner, with a 54-hole score of 15-under 201.
The Boilermakers next return to action March 26-28 at the Clemson Invitational.
