Purdue Falls to Maryland in Series Finale

<br /><br />Purdue softball (2-5) fell to Maryland (4-3) with a final score of 8-1.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – In the third and final game of the series, Purdue softball (2-5) fell to Maryland (4-3) with a final score of 8-1. With the result, the Terrapins took the three-game series, 2-1.

The Boilermakers recorded eight hits on the day, led by a pair each from shortstop Rachel Becker and catcher Kiley Goff. The lone Purdue run was scored by Becca Jones in the top of the fourth.

Four pitchers saw the inside of Purdue's circle, including Savanah Henley (0-2) and relief pitcher Sydney Bates, who closed out the final two innings and recorded a day's best, three strikeouts.

Despite the winning Terrapin run coming in the first inning, Maryland sealed the deal after the Boilermakers faced eight batters in the fourth inning, which resulted in five runs.
