PALM COAST, Fla. – Joe Weiler and Andrew Farraye posted individual victories, but Wisconsin won three matches to defeat Purdue 3-2 in the second round of the Big Ten Match Play Championship, held at the Hammock Beach Resort.
Weiler never trailed in building a five-hole lead through the opening nine holes of the match and cruised to a 4-and-2 victory over Nick Robinson.
Farraye defeated Griffin Barela by a 1-up score. Farraye never trailed, but stayed 1-up on Barela for the three holes, holding off Barela to improve his record in the Big Ten Match Play Championships to 3-0-1 all-time during the event.
Purdue will play top-seeded Northwestern tomorrow morning in the consolation round.
