MINNEAPOLIS – A trio of career-best times that moved those underclassmen up the program's all-time lists coupled with a top-10 mark from the 400 freestyle relay team highlighted the final day of action at the Big Ten Championships for Purdue women's swimming.
The Boilermakers overtook Penn State in the team scoring to finish in ninth place.
Masy Folcik moved into seventh place in program history in while posting a Purdue season-best time of 2:14.87 in the C final of the 200 breaststroke. Sylvia Kobylak (2:15.08) also scored in the C final of the 200 breast.
Kate Beavon (16:32.50, 10th) and Hayley Pike (16:36.12, 12th) scored in the 1,650 free as top-20 finishers in the event, moving up the program's all-time list. A Boilermaker had not cracked the top 10 in the mile since Emily Meckstroth in 2017. Beavon and Pike combined for 17 team points with their showings Saturday.
Claire Abbasse, Kendra Bowen, Riley Kishman and Natalie Myers teamed up for a time of 3:19.37 in the 400 free relay, moving into ninth place in program history. Abbasse's leadoff leg split of 50.13 stands as a team season best in the 100 free. All three of her teammates on the relay followed Abbasse's lead and posted sub-50 second splits.
On her final night competing for Purdue, Myers also scored individually in the C final of the 200 backstroke. She posted a Purdue season-best time of 1:58.60 in the prelims, a time that would have ranked 10th in program history but she already ranks sixth.
As a fellow senior, Kishman was recognized as Purdue's Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree. In her final individual event, she posted a career-best time of 51.02 in the 100 free.
