MINNEAPOLIS – Natalie Myers, Lindsay Turner and Belle Hinshaw all earned second swims and scored in an individual event for Purdue women's swimming on Thursday at the Big Ten Championships.

Myers led the way as a B finalist in the 400 IM. The senior posted an eight-second improvement on her team season-best time from the Senior Day meet on Feb. 6. As the lone Boilermaker to race in the event, she finished 16th among a field of 46. Her time of 4:17.98 would have ranked seventh in program history, but she's already fourth on the 400 IM list.

Hinshaw (200 free) and Turner (100 fly) scored in the C finals of their events. Hinshaw opened the meet with a team season-best (1:47.78) in the 200 free on the leadoff leg of the 800 free relay. Thursday, she became the first Purdue freshman to score individually at Big Tens this year, placing 21st of 83 overall after posting a time of 1:48.81 in the prelims.

Turner scored at Big Tens for the second year in a row, accounting for a team season best (54.50) in the prelims and finishing 24th among a field of 69. Her time would have ranked 13th in program history, but she's already eighth on the list.

Sylvia Kobylak (30th in 100 fly) and Kali Sayovitz (31st in 200 free) were Purdue's top finishers that did not qualify for finals. Both posted personal season-best times. Kobylak (54.87) was .17 hundredths of a second shy of cracking the program's all-time list in the 100 fly. She'll race in her premier event, the 200 breaststroke, Saturday.

Senior Kelsey Macaddino broke 55 seconds in the 100 fly for the first time with a career-best mark of 54.98 in a time trial during the finals session.

Evie Sierra won heat 3 of the 100 fly prelims with a personal season-best time (55.53). Kat Mueller (55.31, 100 fly) and Kendra Bowen (1:50.62, 200 free) also registered season bests while finishing among the top 40 in the prelims.

Action continues Friday with the 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly and 200 free relay. Prelims begin at noon ET and the finals session is set for 7:30 p.m.
