WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team dropped the second match of its home opening weekend, falling 7-0 to Michigan.
The Boilermakers fell behind during doubles play with the Wolverines taking 6-1 and 6-2 wins at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Ena Babic and Csilla Fodor were battling back from a 4-2 deficit against Jaedan Brown and Ciara Lommer at the top of the order when play was halted.
In singles play, Michigan won five of the six contests in straight sets. Zeynep Naz Ozturk forced Nicole Hamond into a tiebreak in the first set but fell at No. 6 7-6(2), 6-3.
Ena Babic was the lone Boilermaker to reach a third set. The senior came up just short in a super tiebreak against Lommer at No. 1, losing 5-7, 6-4, 10-7.
The Boilermakers will head out for a pair of road contests next week against Nebraska on Friday and Iowa on Sunday.
