WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue women's tennis team hit the courts for the second straight afternoon for the second day of the Purdue Invite. The Boilermakers squared off with another Big Ten opponent in Iowa and recorded pair of wins in singles and one in doubles.
Freshman Rut Galindo picked up her first career in singles and doubles. The Guatemala international wore down Michelle Bacalla in a three-set contest 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4. In doubles paired with Seira Shimizu, the duo pulled away to a 7-5 win against Bacalla and Danielle Burich.
Csilla Fodor improved to 2-0 on the year in singles with a straight sets victory against Elise Van Heurelen 6-0, 6-4.
Ena Babic and Fodor were narrowly beat in doubles against Alexa Noel and Samantha Mannix, falling 7-6 (5). Babic nearly knocked off her second ranked opponent but dropped her singles contest against No. 97 Noel 6-3, 7-6 (4).
Zeynep Naz Ozturk fell in a three-set decision against Burich, 5-7, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
The Boilermakers will close out the Purdue Invite on Sunday afternoon against Michigan State at 1 p.m.
