WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Nikola Aćin and Sylvia Kobylak each won a pair of races while also contributing to a victorious relay, headlining the individual event winners at Purdue swimming's Black & Gold intrasquad meets Friday at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
Kobylak led the Black Team to a 121.5-100.5 victory in the women's meet. On the men's side, the Gold Team won the final three events to rally and salvage a draw in the team scoring, with both teams compiling 121.5 points.
Aćin swept the freestyle sprints. Kobylak was victorious in the 150 breaststroke and 150 individual medley.
Six freshmen won individual events – Masy Folcik (75 breast) and Abby Harter (150 back) for the women; Andrew Alders (100 IM), Aaron Frollo (500 free), Coleman Modglin (200 breast) and Jude Wenker (200 free) for the men.
Divers Emily Bretscher, Greg Duncan, Jenna Sonnenberg, Ben Bramley and Maggie Merriman competed their 3-meter or 10-meter lists Friday morning as they continued to build towards the USA Diving World Cup Trials in mid-December.
Friday, Nov. 20 is the potential date for a second Black & Gold intrasquad meet.
