<br /><br />The game at Colorado State was halted with a score of 4-3 in favor of Purdue

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – In the opening day of the Colorado State Classic, the Boilermakers dropped it first shutout of the season to Idaho State 7-0, before their second game was halted during the fourth inning at Colorado State due to darkness.

The game was halted with a score of 4-3 in favor of Purdue. The Boilermakers fought back from a 3-0 first-inning deficit. Taking the lead in the top of the fourth, the Boilermakers scored three runs before the half-inning ended, beginning with a home run by Skye Webb.

Sophomore Becca Jones led the day with two RBI, after recording a triple to send Halle Hixenbaugh and Kasey Wilhoit home in the fourth inning.

The Boilermakers dropped its first shutout of the season, falling to Idaho State 7-0. Seven Boilermakers recorded a hit in the loss, with the first of the game curtesy of second baseman Halle Hixenbaugh in the top of the second inning.

The loss was assigned to sophomore Alex Echazarreta (2-1) for her first of the season. Echazarreta pitched the first inning before sophomore relief pitcher Brenna Smith entered the game. Smith pitched the following three innings, while freshman Ashley Peters closed out the game.

With the results, the all-time series versus Idaho State ties at 1-1.

The Boilermakers will be back in action tomorrow for a double-header. First, Purdue will take on Kennesaw State at 11 a.m. ET, followed by a re-match against Idaho State at 1:15 p.m. ET.
