WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Playing its first match in 11 days, the No. 46 Purdue women's tennis team received a pair of singles wins from freshmen in a 5-2 loss to No. 5 Ohio State on Thursday night at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Csilla Fodor delivered an inspired performance at No. 6, cruising to a 6-1, 6-4 over Luna Dormet. Nikol Dobrilova outlasted Kolie Allen at No. 4 to win 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
The Boilermakers trailed after the opening doubles point. Ohio State picked up matching 6-1 wins at No. 1 and 3. Seira Shimizu and Nikol Dobrilova were in the midst of a rally in their match against Shiori Fukuda and Luna Dormet at No. 2 when play was halted.
In singles play, the Buckeyes saw all three of the top-60 ranked players take straight-set victories at No. 1, 2 and 5 to seal the win.
