RIO GRANDE, P.R. – The Purdue men's golf team rebounded from a tough second round to move up two spots and finish T-8th at the prestigious Puerto Rico Classic held at the Rio Mar Resort's River Course.
 
The Boilermakers totaled a three-day total of 1-over par 865 (286-295-285) to finish tied for eighth with North Carolina State. Georgia Tech won the event with a 32-under par 832, two shots better than No. 2-ranked Oklahoma. Top-50 teams Georgia, Alabama, Clemson and Ole Miss held down spots three through six while College of Charleston was seventh at even-par 864, one shot ahead of the Boilermakers.
 
The Boilermakers defeated Big Ten teams Maryland, Iowa and Ohio State and also earned a head-to-head win over No. 27-ranked Tennessee.
 
Leading the way individually was sophomore Andrew Farraye, who posted a 5-under par 211 (68-71-72) for a 12th-place showing, his fifth top-20 placing of the season. All three rounds were even-par or better and Farraye has posted even- or under-par rounds in 11 of 18 rounds this year.
 
Cole Bradley narrowly missed a top-20 finish with a 3-under par 213 (70-71-72), good for 21st place. His three rounds of even-par or better give him six on the season.
 
Joe Weiler was tied for 45th at 4-over par 220 (73-73-74), Nick Dentino was 59th at 8-over par 216 (75-80-69) and Jason Hong was 65th at 11-over par 227 (75-81-71).
 
Purdue's next action will come at the Desert Mountain Collegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona, on March 7 and 8.
