– Purdue divers Greg Duncan and Emily Bretscher soared to a Sunday springboard sweep – winning on 1-meter and 3-meter, respectively – to close out the House of Champions Invitational on the campus of IUPUI.

Duncan and Bretscher both finished as the runner-up on the opposite springboards Saturday. Their victories Sunday came in impressive fashion. Maggie Merriman was also a 3-meter finalist for the Boilermakers after finishing among the top eight in the prelim.

Duncan posted a Purdue season-best score of 391.60 on 1-meter, winning the final by 36 points. He had the top-scoring dive in four of the six rounds and bested his previous season best by 16.45 points. Sunday was his sixth event victory of the season.

Bretscher posted her fifth event victory of the season, rallying to win on 3-meter with a list score of 347.35. She ripped her final two dives, earning scores of 72.85 in round 5 and 66 in the final round. Both scores were the best in both of those rounds in the eight-diver final. The combined two-round total of 138.85 allowed the junior to rally for a 2.65-point victory after she trailed the leader by 16 points entering the penultimate round and by 6.15 points entering round 6.

Merriman (309.85) and Maycey Vieta (268.95) both posted personal season-best scores in the 3-meter prelim.

With Emily Meaney also winning on the platform Friday, the Boilermakers were victorious in three of the six events contested at the House of Champions Invitational. They posted three additional runner-up showings. There were at least 27 divers entered in the preliminary rounds of all the springboard events.

The Purdue divers compete next month at the USA Diving Winter Trials, set for Dec. 17 to 22 in Minneapolis.
