CARMEL, Ind. – Jason Hong was the lone Boilermaker to sit in the top 20 as the Purdue men's golf team could never get it going through the first 36 holes of the Crooked Stick Invitational on Monday.
Held at the world-renowned Crooked Stick Golf Club, the Boilermakers are tied for seventh out of 14 teams after shooting a 16-over par 592 (298-294) through the first two rounds.
Georgia leads the field after 36 holes at 4-under par 572, while Vanderbilt is the only other team under par at 2-under par 574. Marquette is third at 1-over par 577. Three teams (Illinois, Ohio State and Northwestern) are tied for fourth at 10-over par 586.
Hong had a solid day for the Boilermakers, sitting T-10th after 36 holes at 1-over par 145 (70-75). His only real mistake on the day came on the par-4 12th in the second round with a triple bogey. He finished the day with eight birdies and recorded his fifth round of even-par or better this year in the first round.
Joe Weiler is tied for 27th at 4-over par 148 (75-73). Weiler managed just three birdies on the day but is second in the field in pars made (27).
Freshman Nick Dentino is tied for 33rd at 5-over par 149 (78-71), while Cole Bradley (80-75) and Andrew Farraye (75-80) are tied for 62nd at 11-over par 155.
Playing as an individual, Peyton Snoeberger is tied for 69th at 13-over par 157 (78-79).
Purdue will paired with Ball State and the College of Charleston in Tuesday's final round, teeing off hole No. 10 at 9 a.m. ET.
