CARMEL, Ind. – Joe Weiler fired a 1-under par 71 and the Purdue men's golf team moved up one spot to sixth place at the Crooked Stick Invitational, the final event of the fall campaign.
The Boilermakers totaled a 54-hole tally of 23-over par 887 (298-294-295) to finish one shot ahead of seventh-place Illinois (888). Georgia won the event at 3-over par 867, one shot ahead of Vanderbilt (+4; 868). Northwestern (+15; 879), Marquette (+15; 879) and Ohio State (+17; 881) rounded out the top five.
Purdue ends the fall season with a head-to-head record of 34-23-0 and won the team title at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate a week ago.
Junior Joe Weiler finished his fall campaign on a high note with a T-10th finish at 3-over par 219 (75-73-71). His top-20 finish was his fourth in five events this fall with three top-10 showings. Nine of his 15 competitive rounds were even-par or better and he finished the fall with a 71.93 scoring average (5-over par cumulative).
Junior Jason Hong finished tied for 13th at 4-over par 220 (70-75-75), his first top-20 of the season and seventh of his career.
Freshman Nick Dentino, who used to caddy at Crooked Stick when he was younger, finished tied for 21st with a 7-over par 223 (78-71-74). In his first season at Purdue, Dentino posted two top-20 finishes in the fall with a scoring average of 72.53.
Sophomore Andrew Farraye finished tied for 56th at 14-over par 230 (75-80-75). He posted two top-10 and four top-20 showings in the fall.
Cole Bradley was tied for 65th at 19-over par 235 (80-75-80) while Peyton Snoeberger was also tied for 65th with rounds of 78-79-78.
Purdue's next action will be at the Big Ten Match Play Championship in Palm Coast, Florida, in early February.
