Women's Golf Finishes 11th at Windy City

<br /><br />GOLF, Ill. – The Purdue women's golf team wrapped up its first competition of the season with a two-under par 286 in the final round at the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday. The solid effort bumped the Boilermakers up one spot in the team standings, finishing 11th overall. Purdue was the top school of the four competing from the Big Ten in the event.

The Purdue women's golf team wrapped up its first competition of the season with a two-under par 286 in the final round at the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Tuesday. The solid effort bumped the Boilermakers up one spot in the team standings, finishing 11th overall. Purdue was the top school of the four competing from the Big Ten in the event.
 
After opening with a five-over 77 in the first round, sophomore Danielle du Toit rallied for back-to-back one-under 71s over the final 36 holes to finish with a team-best score of 219 (77-71-71). The three-over par effort placed du Toit in a tie for 29th in the individual standings. She finished the two-day classic with a Purdue-best 12 birdies.
 
Junior teammate Inez Wanamarta placed just behind du Toit, carding a three-round total of 220 (71-76-73) to close in a tie for 35th in the individual standings. Wanamarta ended the final round with a one-over 73, birding two of her last four holes on the day.
 
Freshman Sifat Sagoo, playing in her first collegiate tournament, paired two birdies along with 16 pars to finish with a two-under 70 on the final day. Sagoo, who was nine-over heading into the third round, wrapped up the 54-hole classic seven-over at 223 (74-79-70) to finish in a tie for 49th place.
 
Senior Micaela Farah overcame a first-round 79 with back-to-back rounds of even par to wrap up the two-day classic in a tie with Sagoo at 223 (79-72-72). Farah offset five bogies with five birdies in the final round to finish at 72 for the day.
 
Junior Lauren Guiao lowered her stroke total for a third straight round, ending Tuesday with a three-over 75. Guiao completed the classic at 236 (81-80-75) to finish 78th.
 
No. 14 South Carolina won the team title at the Glen View Club, going 14-under over the course of the 54 holes. The Gamecocks' Pauline Roussin-Bouchard was the top individual, finishing 11-under par.
 
The Boilermakers return to action Oct. 7-8 at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, Illinois.
