LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Led by Andrew Farraye's career-best round, the Purdue men's golf team moved up one spot to finish 12th at the Windon Memorial Classic held at Conway Farms Golf Club.
The Boilermakers recorded a 54-hole total 27-over par 879 (287-307-285) to finish just four shots out of ninth place. The Boilermakers pieced together decent first and third rounds, but Monday's second round obviously cost the Boilermakers a high finish.
Notre Dame won the event at 10-under par 842, while Ole Miss was second at 5-under par 847. The Irish were only seven shots better than Purdue in the first and second rounds, but was 30 shots better in the second round for the difference.
Farraye, a sophomore from St. Augustine, Florida, recorded his second straight top-20 finish with a 1-over par 214 (72-75-67), good for a T-16th showing. He recorded five birdies with just one bogey in Tuesday's third round, equaling the day's lowest round.
Freshman Nick Dentino finished tied for 42nd with a 7-over par 220 (67-77-76). Joe Weiler tied for 48th at 9-over par 222 (73-78-71). Peyton Snoeberger was tied for 63rd at 15-over par 228 (75-77-76) and Cole Bradley finished tied for 68th at 18-over par 231 (79-81-71).
Purdue gets a much-needed break before heading to the Marquette Intercollegiate at prestigious Erin Hills on Oct. 6 to 8.
