WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.
– Andrew Bohm struck out a season-high eight while posting another quality start, but a solo homer in the seventh inning accounted for the game-deciding run as Southeast Missouri defeated Purdue baseball 3-2 Saturday at Alexander Field.

The Boilermakers (16-26) racked up 13 strikeouts, posting a double-figure total for the fourth game in a row and 20th time this season. They've struck out 10-plus in four consecutive games for the second time this year and have fanned 44 in 36 innings over the first four games of their season-long homestand that opened Tuesday.

Milo Beam and Zac Fascia drove in runs with opposite-field singles in the fifth and sixth innings. Beam has an RBI in five straight games. Fascia has recorded an RBI in four consecutive contests and has 10 RBI total over the last six games. Justin Fugitt's triple down the left field line led to Purdue's first run. He scored on Beam's RBI single.

Cole McKenzie singled and walked twice, extending his hit streak to 10 consecutive games. He has reached base safely multiple times in all 10 games. The right fielder also threw out a runner at the plate to end the top of the ninth, recording his second outfield assist of the season.

McKenzie scored the tying run on Fascia's two-out single in the sixth inning after taking second base on a delayed steal.

But Andrew Keck connected for long ball to left field with one out in the top of the seventh. Keck was the final batter that Bohm (0-6) faced. The right-hander had retired 11 of the last 12 batters prior to the home run. Bohm worked three true 1-2-3 innings. His only rough frame came in the top of the third when he loaded the bases via a hit batsman and consecutive walks. SEMO's leading hitter, Tyler Wilber, followed with a two-run single through the left side. Bohm responded by striking out the final two batters of the inning, marking the third straight frame in which he fanned a pair.

In his last three starts, Bohm has registered 18 strikeouts vs. 11 hits allowed over 18 1/3 innings.

Bo Hofstra struck out consecutive hitters to escape a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning. He also had a big strikeout in the ninth inning after the first two batters of the frame reached base safely. Matt Moore struck out a pair for the second day in a row, registering his third K of the series on just three pitches.

The Boilermakers had runners on first and second with one out in the eighth inning when SEMO (20-24) went to the bullpen for closer Aaron Stretch. The lefty got Bryce Bonner to hit into an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play and then retired Purdue's 6-7-8 hitters in order in the bottom of the ninth to close out the win.

Skyler Hunter drew a one-out walk in the eighth inning to extend his reached base safely streak to 23 consecutive games in his first plate appearance of the day. However, Hunter was held hitless at Alexander Field for the first time this season. Ryan Howe's nine-game hit streak came to an end Saturday.

The Boilermakers are 2-3 in rubber games this season. Meanwhile, Southeast Missouri is winless in seven rubber games this year. Purdue has not won a rubber game at home since May 2009 vs. Illinois.

First pitch Sunday is slated for 1 p.m. ET.
