WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Bryce Bonner hit a three-run homer as part of a four-RBI night and the bullpen retired 10 of 11 batters faced to close out the game, leading Purdue baseball to an 8-3 win vs. Southeast Missouri State on Friday at Alexander Field.
The Boilermakers (16-25) won for the fourth time in the last five games, improving to 9-4 at home this season. They've won the first three games of their season-long nine-game homestand by a combined margin of 29-6.
Milo Beam also homered Friday, going deep to right field to open the eighth inning and recording an RBI for the fourth straight game.
Purdue racked up a season-high 14 hits, with every man in the lineup recording at least one knock. Skyler Hunter and Cole McKenzie both recorded a pair of hits to extend their notable streaks. Hunter has hit safely in all 13 home games this season and reached base safely in 22 consecutive games overall. The switch-hitter also recorded hits from both side of the plate for the 19th time as a Boilermaker. McKenzie extended his hit streak to nine consecutive games, reaching base safely multiple times in all nine.
Bonner reached base safely four times while posting his second career four-RBI game. His two-out RBI single plated the first of four insurance runs as Purdue extended its lead after SEMO (19-24) made it a one-run game in the top of the sixth. His three-run homer was an opposite-field shot to right field with the game tied 1-1 in the fifth inning. He's the first player with multiple home runs at Alexander Field this season. Bonner has six extra-base hits and 12 RBI over the last 12 games since becoming an everyday starter April 7.
Dalton Parker, Matt Moore and Austin Peterson teamed up for 3 1/3 innings of one-hit relief to finish off the win. Moore and Peterson combined to strike out the Redhawks' final five batters of the game in order. After starter Trent Johnson fanned four over 5 2/3 innings of three-run ball, the Boilermakers finished with 10 Ks for their 19th double-figure strikeout total of the season.
Trailing 1-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, a leadoff walk to Beam ignited the Boilermakers' four-run rally. Ryan Howe followed with a slash-play base hit through the left side after initially showing bunt. Hunter's hit from the right side of the plate was an RBI single off the wall in right field. After a sac bunt by McKenzie, Bonner also hit the ball in the air into right field and a left-to-right crosswind helped carry it over the fence for the three-run blast.
Owen Jansen, Zac Fascia and Bonner each came through with a two-out RBI single while Purdue extended its lead with consecutive two-run frames in the late innings. The Boilermakers sent a combined 16 men to the plate over the seventh and eighth innings. Fascia has nine RBI over the last five games.
Hunter made a leaping catch in deep right center to take away a leadoff double in the second inning. Evan Albrecht turned an inning-ending double play in the top of the fourth.
Howe also extended his hit streak to nine consecutive games.
The first pitch of Saturday's middle game has been moved up to 11 a.m. ET.

Parker recorded the biggest out of the game, getting SEMO's No. 5 hitter to fly out to center field with runners on the corners to end the sixth inning. That kept Purdue in front 4-3. Johnson (3-2) struck out a pair in the frame, but gave up consecutive two-out RBI singles before giving way to the bullpen. The sophomore faced only 16 batters through his first five innings, working consecutive 1-2-3 frames to begin the game.Hear from @bryce_bonner after Friday's win.
