Boilermakers Fall to No. 17 Michigan in Big Ten Tournament

<br /><br />Top-seeded and 17th-ranked Michigan defeated Purdue 4-0 in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Purdue women's tennis faced a tough task matching up with No. 17 Michigan in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. Undefeated in conference play, the No. 1-seeded Wolverines defeated the Boilermakers 4-0.

Caitlin Calkins and Seira Shimizu lead their doubles match over Anca Craciun and Giulia Pairone 5-4 before ending unfinished.

With four of Michigan's six singles players ranked No. 82 or higher, the Boilermakers fought to stay in the match.  

At the No. 1 spot, No. 33 Silvia Ambrosio led in the second set before falling to No. 3 Kate Fahey 6-4, 6-4.

Ena Babic took her match into the third set with her 6-3 second-set victory over Pairone, before ending unfinished 2-6, 6-3, 0-2.

Zala Dovnik pushed her first-set loss to 7-5 and led the second set 4-3 before her match ended unfinished. 

The Boilermakers round out the season 11-13 overall, including 5-6 in the Big TEn.

The NCAA Women's Division I Team Selection Show will be Monday, April 29, at 6:30 p.m. ET, with the Individual Selection Show the following day at 6 p.m. ET.
