WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The No. 11-ranked Purdue men's basketball team lost a 73-69 heartbreaker at Minnesota Tuesday. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Boilermakers and dashed hopes of a potential outright Big Ten regular season championship.

The Boilermakers could have had a chance to tie or win it in the final seconds down 71-69 when it appeared Grady Eifert had tipped an inbounds pass off Minnesota's Amir Coffey, but the officials upheld the original call keeping possession with the Golden Gophers. Coffey was subsequently fouled and sunk both free throws to seal the game.

Purdue (22-8, 15-4) climbed back from a 50-38 deficit early in the second half to tie the game at 54-54 with 8:34 to play thanks to hot 3-point shooting from Eifert and Ryan Cline and putbacks from Nojel Eastern. After a Minnesota run gave the Gophers a 64-55 lead, Cline drilled consecutive 3-pointers with less than four minutes to play to keep the Boilermakers within striking distance.

Carsen Edwards led Purdue in scoring with 22 points. Cline had 19 points on 6 of 9 shooting from 3-point range, while Eifert (13 points, career-high 14 rebounds) and Eastern (12 points, 10 rebounds) contributed double-doubles.

Purdue travels to Northwestern on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. ET, tip on BTN. A win will give Purdue a share of the Big Ten crown.
