AUSTIN, Texas
– Ben Bramley placed sixth in the championship final of platform diving to earn All-America honors, headlining the final day of action at the NCAA Championships for Purdue men's swimming & diving.

Bramley finished fourth in the prelim to clinch a berth in the championship final as a freshman. He improved on his prelim score by 27 points in the final, in which he posted a list score of 396.30.

Bramley got off to a strong start in the final and was in first place following round 3. But his only missed dive of the day followed in round 4, and the score of 32.3 that dive earned ultimately cost him a chance at a medal. Four of his first five dives in the final earned scores of 70-plus.

The Boilermakers finished 23rd in the team scoring with 51 points, placing among the top 25 at NCAAs for the 12th time since 2005. Bramley's sixth-place finish was their best of the week, but Purdue did score in a program-record six events at the national championship meet this season – earning All-America honors in all three diving events, both medley relays and the 100 breaststroke.

So Proud of @PurdueMSwimDive finishing 23rd at NCAA Austin! Its not our highest place nor our goal but this may have been the most fun meet ive ever been involved in thank you @PurdueDivers @CoachSoldati Brian Barnes, and all our support staff! now onto hoops go @BoilerBall

Brandon Loschiavo finished 18th in the platform prelims. His round 1 score of 81.60 was tops in the 42-diver field, but he missed each of his final three dives to drop out of the top eight that advanced to the championship final.

Purdue's 400 freestyle relay team finished 19th in the prelims with a time of 2:52.91. James Boone posted a team-best 100 split of 42.74 as the anchor leg in his debut at the NCAA Championships. That's faster than the program record time of 42.84.

Nikola Acin, Erik Juliusson and Joe Young joined forces with Boone while racing in a relay for the third day in a row at NCAAs. Although it was not as fast as the program record (2:52.19) the Boilermakers established at the Big Ten Championships this season, the quartet's time of 2:52.19 would rank second fastest in program history.

Trent Pellini closed out his week at NCAAs by racing in the prelims of the 200 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:59.22. The sophomore earned a team-high three honorable mention All-America accolades this week, contributing to both the 200 and 400 medley relay records along with placing 15th in the 100 breast.

Purdue will have to bid adieu to graduating seniors Joe Cifelli, Boone, Juliusson and Young. Greg Duncan, Acin, Bramley, Loschiavo and Pellini will headline the returning Boilermakers for the 2019-20 season.
