AUSTIN, Texas
– Another medley relay record and another top-10 finish for Greg Duncan on the springboards headlined Friday at the NCAA Championships for Purdue men's swimming & diving.

Trent Pellini (100 breast), Duncan (3-meter) and the 200 medley relay team all garnered honorable mention All-America accolades by qualifying for consolation finals. Pellini finished 15th in his first career individual event at NCAAs. Duncan claimed his third career All-America honor, scoring on 3-meter at NCAAs for the second year in a row. He won the consolation final Friday for a ninth-place overall finish.

Joe Young, Pellini, Erik Juliusson and Nikola Acin teamed up to eclipse the program record in a medley relay for the second day in a row. Racing in the 200 medley relay Friday, they eclipsed their program benchmark from the Big Ten Championships a month ago. Their time of 1:24.54 was good for 10th in the prelim after being seeded 23rd. They took fourth in consolation final, good for another 12th-place overall showing.

This year marked the first time in program history that the Boilermakers had multiple All-American relays.

Purdue is in 21st place in the team scoring with 38 points.

Duncan's score of 76.5 in the sixth round of the 3-meter prelim, the second-best score in the final round, allowed him to overcome a lackluster showing on his previous dive, climbing back into the top 16. His first and third dives also produced scores that ranked among the top 10 of the 50-diver field. In the consolation final, he closed with consecutive scores in the 70s to pull away for a 17-point win. With a list score of 398.20 in the final, he improved on his prelim score (360.45) by 37.75 points.

Pellini placed 15th in the 100 breast prelims and also placed seventh in the consolation final. He posted equal times of 52.25 and 52.24 on his two swims.

Senior Joe Cifelli closed out his college career by placing 18th in the 3-meter prelim with a list score of 345.30. He was unable to overcome a lackluster effort in round 3 that produced a sub 40-point score. Cifelli will graduate this year as the Boilermakers' first male diver to be a four-year NCAAs qualifier.

Freshman Ben Bramley placed 40th in his debut at the national championship meet. He'll compete again Saturday on the platform, his premier event. Two-time Big Ten champion Brandon Loschiavo also competes Saturday on the platform.

Also on Saturday, Pellini races again in the 200 breast and Purdue will have a team in the 400 freestyle relay. Swimming prelims begin at 11 a.m. ET, the diving prelim is at 1 p.m. and finals are at 7 p.m.
