IOWA CITY, Iowa – Purdue women's tennis lost to Iowa 4-1 on Friday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
No. 33 Silvia Ambrosio defeated Elise van Heuvelen at the No. 1 singles spot 6-3, 6-3 to secure the only Boilermaker point.
In doubles, Ambrosio and Amina Mukhametshina defeated van Heuvelen and Ashleigh Jacobs 6-4.
Caitlin Calkins and Ena Babic fell just short to Samantha Mannix and Danielle Bauers in the tie breaker set 7-6 (1).
Babic won the first set against Mannix 6-1 before falling 6-1, 5-7, 0-6.
Calkins also won her first set 6-2 against Sophie Clark before losing 6-2, 2-6, 4-6.
The Boilermakers will be back in action Sunday in Lincoln, Nebraska, to take on the Cornhuskers at 1 p.m. ET.
