AWENDAW, S.C. – The Purdue men's golf team started fast, but struggled late in round two of the Hootie at Bulls Bay.
The Boilermakers are in 14th place at 8-over par 584 after rounds of 289 and 295. The Boilermakers are just five shots behind eighth-place Iowa State (579). College of Charleston leads at 14-under par 562.
A strong finish is needed tomorrow to move Purdue up the leaderboard and gain valuable head-to-head wins.
Purdue was playing well early in the round, with the counting team being 4-under par through the first six holes. However, Purdue suffered three double bogeys on the par-4 16th, dropping the Boilermakers back off the pace and stopping their momentum.
Freshman Andrew Lewis and sophomore Joe Weiler lead the Boilermakers after 36 holes, sitting in a 37th-place tie at 2-over par 146. The duo has recorded identical rounds of 72-74.
Timmy Hildebrand and Jarle Volden are tied at 43rd at 3-over par 147, while Cole Bradley is tied for 51st at 4-over par 148.
Purdue will tee off in tomorrow's final round, beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET, off hole No. 10.
