ORLANDO, Fla. - The Purdue women's golf team finished under par for the third straight round, shooting one-under 287 to wrap up a sixth-place finish Tuesday at the UCF Challenge, hosted by the Knights at Eagle Creek Golf Club. Junior Micaela Farah put the finishing touches on a career-best 54-hole tournament score, shooting one-under 71 on Tuesday and finishing tied for fifth individually at seven-under par, 209.
Farah opened the day on hole No. 4 and stood at even par after nine holes with a bogey on No. 8 and a birdie on No. 13. She dropped six straight pars before making a second birdie on No. 2 to secure her third straight round under par and her best individual finish of the season.
Senior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri and freshman Danielle du Toit secured top-20 individual finishes as Putri moved to two-under par with a score of 71 on Tuesday, sinking back-to-back birdies on No. 2 and No. 3, while du Toit made birdie on two of her final three holes to even Tuesday's round at even par.
Sophomore Inez Wanamarta accounted for the Boilermakers' fourth and final team score, recovering from a tough start to shoot one-under par over her final 16 holes of the day. Senior Covadonga SanJuan was one shot back at two-over 74, and sophomore Lauren Guiao had a stellar final round as an individual, shooting one-under 71 to account for her second career round under par.
No. 6 Vanderbilt captured the team title at 23-under par, 841, shooting seven-under 281 on Tuesday, building an eight-shot lead over second-place Kent State and Miami. Miami's Anna Backman secured medalist honors at 11-under 205, edging out Auston Kim of Vanderbilt and Karoline Stormo of Kent State.
The Boilermakers head to Puerto Rico next week to host the 2019 Lady Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Country Club.
