WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - During its current winning streak, Purdue men's basketball rarely played from behind.

On Sunday, the No. 17 Boilermakers did, and they overcame a 13-point second-half deficit to win their seventh straight game, 73-63 over Minnesota before another sellout crowd of 14,804 at Mackey Arena.

Purdue (16-6, 9-2) has won 10 of its last 11 contests and moved into a first-place tie in the Big Ten Conference with Michigan and Michigan State. Both the Wolverines and Spartans lost earlier this weekend.

Minnesota (16-6, 6-5), which had won three of its previous four, led 47-34 with 14 minutes left before the Boilermakers outscored the Gophers 39-16 the rest of the way. A Ryan Cline 3-pointer with 8:39 remaining put Purdue ahead for good at 52-49, and 37 seconds later he drained another one - the 200th of his career - to cap a 21-2 barrage.

The Golden Gophers still had a chance trailing 64-59 with two and a half minutes to go, but Grady Eifert beat the shot clock with a 3-pointer of his own to cap Purdue's 11th home-court win this season without a loss.

Behind freshman Trevion Williams, Purdue led most of the first half. He scored 10 points in helping the Boilermakers build a 25-18 advantage with six minutes left before intermission. But the Gophers subsequently outscored the Boilermakers 10-2 to take a 28-27 lead into the locker room.

Minnesota continued its assault in the second half, using a 19-7 run to create some serious separation before the Boilermakers regrouped and responded.

Williams (season-high-tying 16 points) and Matt Haarms (15) combined for 31 points, playing together at times in the second half. Haarms also contributed eight rebounds and five blocked shots, both career-high-tying totals.

Carsen Edwards, limited to two first-half points, finished with 17 to pace Purdue. Cline and Nojel Eastern both added 11.

Purdue shot 47.5 percent from the field but just 20.8 percent from 3-point range (5 of 24) and 58.8 percent from the free throw line (10 of 17). The Boilermakers outrebounded the Gophers 36-35, including 21-12 in the second half.

Minnesota's Amir Coffey led all players with 22 points.

In the first six victories of their winning streak, the Boilermakers trailed for just 19:23 of 250 minutes, including merely 3:34 after halftime. Minnesota led this game for 11:12, but Purdue found another way to win.

Purdue now has six days until its next game. Nebraska visits Mackey on Feb. 9 for an 8:30 p.m. ET tip. The game is sold out and will be televised by BTN. It is the Boilermakers' Hammer Down Cancer Game, with the jerseys being auctioned and proceeds going to the Tyler Trent Endowment Fund at the Purdue Center for Cancer Research.
