- Purdue improved to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten Conference with an 84-80 overtime win at Wisconsin … the Boilermakers won their first road game of the season and won its first overtime game since Feb. 21, 2017, at Penn State (W, 74-70).
- Purdue's win was the Boilermakers' fifth at the Kohl Center under head coach Matt Painter … it's the most wins for a visiting team in the facility since the 2005-06 season (Painter's first year) … Purdue is 5-6 under Painter at the Kohl Center.
- Purdue entered the game never scoring more than 75 points in the Kohl Center … Purdue scored 74 points in regulation and finished with 84.

- Carsen Edwards scored 36 points with four rebounds, one assist and a steal in the victory … it marked his fourth 30-point game of the season, matching the most by a major-college player nationally (St. John's Shamorie Ponds, Marquette's Markus Howard) … Edwards' six career 30-point game are the seventh most in school history … Edwards moved into 24th place on the school's career scoring list (1,450 points) … Edwards has scored at least 10 points in 36 straight games, the ninth-longest streak in Purdue history … Edwards made six 3-pointers, the fourth time this year he has made at least six 3-pointers in a game … Edwards and Ethan Happ (31 points) became the first opponents to each score at least 30 points since Robbie Hummel (35) and Ohio State's Evan Turner (32) did so on Jan. 12, 2010.
- Ryan Cline scored 14 points with two rebounds, two assists and two steals … he moved into 10th place on the school's career 3-pointers made list (177) … Cline hasn't had a turnover in the last three games (103 minutes), while dishing out 11 assists.
- Nojel Eastern scored 10 points with nine rebounds, narrowly missing his first career double-double … he also held D'Mitrik Trice to 4-of-14 shooting from the field.
- Freshman Trevion Williams earned his first career start, tallying 9 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block in 25 minutes … over the last two games, Williams has 22 points, 23 rebounds, five assists, four steals and two blocks in 46 minutes … 14 of his 23 rebounds have been on the offensive end.
MADISON, Wis. - The stars were out Friday at the Kohl Center, with Purdue's Carsen Edwards and Wisconsin's Ethan Happ heating up on a chilly night in Wisconsin. Edwards finished with 36 points, while Happ ended up with 31. But it was Edwards' Boilermakers who came out on top, taking an 84-80 decision in overtime.
This was a big victory for Purdue, as it was the program's first road win of the season. The Boilermakers has come close a few times on the floor of opposing teams, dropping narrow decisions at Florida State and at Texas. Purdue also lost close tilts on neutral courts against Virginia Tech and Notre Dame.
The Boilermakers can build off this, as this triumph is a nice NCAA resume builder. And Purdue has Edwards to thank.
The junior guard did it all tonight, hitting 10-of-26 shots, nailing 6-of-14 3-pointers. He iced the game from the charity stripe, hitting 10-of-14 for the game. No doubt, this was an effort worthy of being Big Ten Player of the Year.
Head coach Matt Painter also has to be pleased with the continued emergence of freshman big man Trevion Williams, who made his first career start and was forced to play extended minutes with Evan Boudreaux out with injury. And, he looked good. The big fella tallied nine points with 11 rebounds with three steals and three assists. The last time out, Williams had 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Boilermakers have the makings of a special player.
Purdue looked poised to win in regulation, leading 67-60 with 4:51 left in the game. But Wisconsin rallied, outscoring the Boilermakers 14-7 the rest of the way to force overtime at 74 apiece. Purdue had the ball with a chance to win in regulation in the dying seconds, but Edwards took an ill-advised 30-footer that threw drew nothing but air.
Purdue welcomes Rutgers on Tuesday, looking to build mojo before welcoming Indiana to Mackey Arena on Jan. 19.
