MEDINAH, Ill. -
The Purdue women's golf team took home a tournament title in record-setting fashion Tuesday, shooting eight-under par 280 to champion the Illini Women's Invitational at the No. 2 Course at Medinah Country Club. The Boilermakers' 54-hole total of 27-under par, 278-279-280=837, is the best tournament in program history, led by senior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri's career-high individual total of eight-under 208.

In the three tournament rounds the Boilermakers put together the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 7 18-hole team scores all-time at Purdue and finished eight strokes better than the previous 54-hole record, posted in September 26, 2010, at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee. Putri's 208 is tied for the fifth-best 18-hole score all-time at Purdue and her second career mark in the Boilermakers' top-10.

Things started slow for the Old Gold & Black on Tuesday, playing two-over par on the first eight holes, while Kent State, Miami and the host Fighting Illini got low quick and erased the Boilermakers' lead. After falling behind Kent State and Illinois, junior Micaela Farah ignited a Boilermaker run that saw her squad finish 10-under par over the final 10 holes, including four birdies from Farah and four from Putri. Freshmen Danielle du Toit and RuQing Guan added two birdies apiece down the stretch as well, both finishing under par.

Putri finished tied for fourth individually, shooting one-under 71 in the final round, while du Toit joined her in the top 10 at six-under 210. du Toit's two-under 70 marked her fourth straight round under par this fall. Farah bounced back from her second round to go four-under 68, including three straight birdies on No. 9, 10 and 11, while Guan marked her sixth straight team score to start her career, shooting one-under 71 for her second straight mark under par.

The Boilermakers finished with a four-stroke win over second place Kent State, which entered the tournament ranked 13th by the WGCA and No. 14 by Golfweek.com, and bested No. 24 Illinois by eight strokes. Medalist honors were shared by Kent State teammates Karoline Stormo and Michaela Finn, and Texas Tech's Sofia Garcia.

The tournament victory is the 63rd in program history, 40th under head coach Devon Brouse and the team's first since the 2017 3M Augusta Invitational.

Purdue starts its final tournament of the fall Oct. 26, heading to the 17th-annual Landfall Tradition.
