COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. Timmy Hildebrand and Cole Bradley posted under-par rounds, but the Purdue men's golf steam struggled to make birdies to sit in ninth place after round one of the Intercollegiate at the Grove, held at The Grove Club.

The Boilermakers shot a 6-over par 294 to finish ninth after 18 holes, 11 shots behind leader Kennessaw State (-5). Kentucky, USF and Ole Miss are all tied for second at 4-under par, while Louisville (Even), Liberty (+2), College of Charleston (+2) and Louisiana Tech (+4) round out spots five through eight.

While leading the field in pars made (61), Purdue finished last in the field in birdies made with seven. Timmy Hildebrand and Cole Bradley each had three birdies, while Joe Weiler, Jarle Volden and Thomas Lewis combined for just one birdie between them. Middle Tennessee State was ahead of Purdue in birdies made with 11.

Hildebrand continued his strong early-season start, posting a 2-under par 70, his sixth round (out of 10) already of even-par or better. He is in T-10th after 18 holes, after getting to 4-under par through 11 holes, but back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 13 and 14 dropped him to 2-under par for his round.

Bradley is T-15th after shooting a 1-under par 71. Bradley was 2-under par through 17 holes, but bogeyed the par-5 18th hole to drop to 1-under par for his round. Nonetheless, it marked his fourth round of par or better and second straight dating to the Windon Memorial Classic two weeks ago.

Joe Weiler is tied for 53rd (+4), Jarle Volden is tied for 61st (+5) and Thomas Lewis is tied for 76th (+12) after 18 holes. Playing as an individual, Jason Hong is tied for 53rd (+4).

Purdue will play with Cincinnati in round two, teeing off from 12:28 to 1:08 p.m. ET, on Monday.
