The Boilermakers entered the final round 11 shots off the pace, but made up the margin early in the back nine and held on for a two-shot victory with a 54-hole total of 18-under par 846 (282-287-277). Northwestern was second at 16-under par 848, while Marquette finished third at 15-under par 849.
"I am just really proud of the guys on their win and their performance the last two days. We played a great round on a really tough day," head coach Rob Bradley said. "Joe Weiler bounced back today and really set the tone as the first one out. Cole (Bradley) played really solid all week. This was a total team effort and everyone really showed what they are capable of. This is a springboard we need into our trip to Hawai'i and then the offseason."
The Boilermakers made their mark on the par 3's and par 4's, playing the holes in even and 6-over par as a group respectively.
The Boilermakers placed two players in the top 10, led by Cole Bradley's third-place finish at 10-under par 206 (66-72-68). Bradley recorded 16 birdies during the tournament, en route to his second straight top-10 finish. Bradley has now posted seven consecutive rounds of even-par or better, averaging 69.86 strokes per round during that span – a total of 15-under par.
Timmy Hildebrand recorded his fourth consecutive top-10 finish at 3-under par 213 (74-69-70). Hildebrand now owns a 70.47 stroke average this year and is a cumulative 14-under par on the year.
Playing as an individual, Jason Hong finished tied for 12th place at 2-under par 214 (73-67-74) for his best performance of the season. Hong posted his fifth top-20 finish of his career.
Jarle Volden tied for 22nd at 1-over par 217 (75-71-71), posting back-to-back under-par rounds to help Purdue to the team title.
Weiler turned in a career-best 68 in today's final round to move up 27 spots into a 25th-place tie at 2-over par 218 (71-79-68). The 25th-place finish is a career best, one week after posting a career-low 27th-place finish at the Intercollegiate at the Grove.
Andrew Lewis and Thomas Lewis (individual) finished tied for 52nd at 13-over par 229.
Purdue's next action comes Oct. 28 through 30, at the Warrior Makai Invitational in Princeville, Hawai'i. The event is the final competition of the fall season for the Boilermakers.
