OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Timmy Hildebrand fired a 4-under par 66 to lead Purdue to its best score of the tournament and a 12th-place finish at the Fighting Illini / OFCC Invitational.
Purdue posted the third-best round of the day to move up one spot to 12th overall with a 54-hole total of 46-over par 886 (295-300-291). No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State won the title with an 11-under par 829 (273-278-278), while USC was second at 7-over par 847 (287-281-279). California, Alabama and UNLV rounded out the top five.
The tournament featured 10 of the nation's top-25 teams, including three of the top-four ranked teams in America.
Timmy Hildebrand closed out a strong tournament with a sixth-place finish at 1-under par 209 (75-68-66). His final-round 66 was the second-best round of the tournament behind Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolff's opening-round 65, and was the 19th-best round in school history.
His 54-hole total of 209 was the 20th-best score in Purdue history and it marked his eighth career top-10 finish. Through two events this year, Hildebrand has a scoring average of 70.50 with three of his six rounds in the 60s.
Hildebrand moved up 15 spots on the individual leaderboard by posting the best round of the day.
Joe Weiler placed T-49th at 14-over par 224 (73-78-73=224), Jarle Volden was T-53rd (74-76-75=225), Cole Bradley was T-60th (73-78-77=228) and Thomas Lewis rounded out Purdue's lineup with a T-70th finish (75-81-78=234).
Purdue will compete in the Windon Memorial next Sunday and Monday at the Knollwood GC in Lake Forest, Illinois.
