WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. ââ'¬" Sunday, the Purdue women's tennis team posted consecutive Big Ten wins for the first this spring, defeating Iowa 6-1 inside the Schwartz Tennis Center. The Boilermakers opened their two-match conference home stand with a 4-3 win against Nebraska, bringing their overall record to 10-8 and 3-3 in the Big Ten.

In doubles against the Hawkeyes, Purdue again struggled to take an early lead, dropping contests on the higher two courts. Silvia Ambrosio and Caitlin Calkins were bested 6-4 by No. 47 Elise Van Heuvelen and Anastasia Reimchen at the first position, while Ena Babic and Zala Dovnik fell 6-3 to Zoe Douglas and Adorabol Huckleby at the second. Boilermakers Alex Sabe and Seira Shimizu did make easy work of Montana Crawford and Adrienne Jensen on court three, defeating the pair 6-2; however, the team has only secured the doubles point once through six conference duals.

After the break, Purdue quickly adjusted to take five opening sets in singles. Ambrosio was the only Boilermaker to fall behind early, though, the junior managed to win her court one contest 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 1-0 (10-3) against Van Heuvelen. Calkins also needed three to defeat Crawford 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 on court five, while the remaindered of the home team's lineup swept its opponents in straight sets.

Babic overpowered Douglas 6-0, 6-1 at the second position. Sabe bested Reimchen 6-3, 7-5 at the third. Shimizu defeated Huckleby 6-3, 6-2 on court four, and Dovnik trumped Jensen 6-1, 6-3 on six.

Up next, Purdue will hit the road for a lone dual against instate rival Indiana on Saturday. First serve against the Hoosiers is scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
