PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Senior Brian Carlson stands second while 43rd-ranked Purdue is ninth out of 15 teams after 36 holes at the John Hayt Invitational.

As a team, Purdue (+10) carded an even 18 in the second round to move up a spot on the leaderboard after a 10-over first round earlier Sunday at Sawgrass Country Club. No. 24 North Carolina (-7) paces second-place Jacksonville by two strokes.

Carlson (-7) birdied three of his last eight holes to complete a 2-under round and stand one stroke behind individual leader Lorenzo Scalise of Tennessee.

Carlson's first-round 67 featured an eagle on the par-5, 536-yard eighth hole.

Junior Jarle Volden (+2) stands 31st and freshman Joe Weiler (+7), Cole Bradley (+8) and Jason Hong (+12) are 57th, 63rd and 75th, respectively. All four recorded improved second-round scores. Weiler shaved seven strokes from his first-round performance to match teammate Volden with an even-par 72 over the second 18.

Junior Timmy Hildebrand (+2), playing independently from team scoring, shot back-to-back 73s and joined Volden in the six-player tie for 31st.

Monday's final round tees off at 7:45 a.m. ET.
