Box Score (Texas Tech) // Box Score (UC Riverside)

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Purdue (6-19) kicks off the UCR Classic with a pair of victories as the Boilermakers use two seventh-inning two-out rallies to take down Texas Tech (17-10) and UC Riverside (21-8). Sydney Bates and Kaitlynn Moody picked up wins with Bates earning her first career save.

Aside from Morgan Cavinder's walk-off RBI single against Texas Tech, Tayler Wullenweber was perhaps the most clutch Boilermaker at the plate. The redshirt freshman delivered three hits in six trips to the plate, drove in a run and scored two of her own. Mallory Baker continues to swing a hot bat at the top of the lineup as she registered four hits in seven at-bats with a walk to her credit.

Most of Purdue's production at the plate came from newcomers as Ryleigh Scott, Halle Hixenbaugh, Rachel Krzysko and Jenny Behan all registered at least one hit and scored a run on the day. Scott, the Big Ten's freshman leader in hits, picked up three more singles a run and an RBI. Hixenbaugh scored a run and knocked in two of Purdue's four runs against UC Riverside. Krzysko scored a pair of runs and singled while Behan also singled and scored a run but it was her RBI on a sacrifice fly that was the difference against the Highlanders. Lexi Huffman walked twice and scored a run as well.

The combined efforts of Bates and Moody led to just three earned runs in 14 innings of play. Bates earned the complete-game 4-3 victory over Texas Tech before earning the save against UC Riverside, solidifying Moody's 4-3 victory. Moody threw six innings without an earned run while Bates earned eight strikeouts in eight innings of work.

Purdue begins day two in Riverside against Idaho State noon ET before its rematch with the Red Raiders at 5 p.m.
