DURHAM, N.C. - Duke (5-3) stepped up when it mattered most in order to hand Purdue (1-7) an 8-1 loss at Duke Softball Stadium. Emily Kenny continues to swing the bat well as she picked up two more hits in the game. She's now hitting .318 on the year following an injury plagued 2017 season.
Both teams finished with seven hits in the contest. However, base knocks by the Blue Devils proved timely in order to score their eight runs. Purdue left six runners on base with the lone RBI coming on a double by Stephanie Ramsey following a leadoff single by Ryleigh Scott. Mallory Baker also doubled in the game with Lexi Huffman and Tayler Wullenweber each registering singles.
Purdue's run came in the third following a breakout top half of the inning in which the Blue Devils scored four runs. Duke followed up in the fourth inning with three more runs to take a 7-1 lead before tacking on another run in the sixth.
