Tempe, Ariz. - Purdue (1-3) split day two of its trip to the Kajikawa Classic with a win over South Dakota (0-5) following its loss to Western Michigan (2-2). The Boilermakers' bats came alive against South Dakota, winning the contest 11-2 in five innings after falling in a slugfest to the Broncos 15-7.

With already 10.1 innings of work under her belt, Kaitlynn Moody got the nod against South Dakota and earned the complete-game victory after five strong innings without an earned run. Purdue swung the bats well with eight hits and four home runs in the contest. Mallory Baker gave Purdue a 3-0 lead in the first with a home run after Halle Hixenbaugh and Ryleigh Scott each doubled to begin the inning. Baker finished the day with two home runs, six runs driven in, four runs scored and a pair of walks.

The Boilermakers also registered three consecutive home runs in the game against South Dakota as Kaylah Hampton, Emily Kenny and Jenny Behan all went deep. Hixenbaugh and Scott each set the table well for the middle of the lineup as they accounted for five hits, five runs scored, a run batted in and a pair of walks. Scott went 4-for-8 on the day with three runs scored.

Behan and Stephanie Ramsey provided a punch towards the bottom of the lineup as Behan also registered four hits on the day, three of which came against Western Michigan, and Ramsey finished with a 3-for-4 day as well against the Broncos. They each scored a run and picked up an RBI in the loss prior to Behan's 1-for-2 game at the plate against the Coyotes in which she also knocked in a run and scored one of her on.

Purdue wraps up its first road trip of the 2018 season at 11 a.m. ET against Fresno State.
