WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue swimming & diving teams had at least the top two finishers in 21 events at Friday's Senior Day meet, cruising past Michigan State in the final co-ed dual of the season at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
The Purdue men improved to 4-2 in duals this season while the No. 23 Purdue women are now 4-1.
The Boilermakers posted eight 1-2-3-4 finishes, including both men's breaststroke events and both women's backstroke events. The Purdue women won 14 of 16 events, all but the freestyle sprints. The Purdue men swept the five freestyle events and were victorious in 13 events.
Kaersten Meitz and Nick McDowell both swept the distance freestyle events. Meitz continues to lead the Purdue women with 13 individual event victories. Taite Kitchel and Morgan Meixner were also victorious twice Friday, sweeping the butterfly and springboard diving events. Meixner posted a career-best scored of 312.60 on 1-meter, improving on her 10th-best mark in program history.
Senior Adam Noens demonstrated his versatility, winning the 100 free with a time (46.59) that ranks as the fourth fastest for the team this year. He also helped the Boilermakers sweep the relays. He swam the backstroke leg on the 200 medley relay and the anchor leg on the 200 free relay.

Joe Gardner out touched Marat Amaltdinov by .18 hundredths of a second to win the 100 breast with a personal season-best time of 55.57. Amaltdinov was later victorious in the 200 breast for his team-leading 12th individual event win of the season.
Natalie Mudd and Hanna House teamed up for the tightest finish of the night. Mudd out touched House by three hundredths of a second, 2:02.15 to 2:02.18, in the 200 back.
Erik Juliusson and Batuhan Hakan both won an event and finished as the runner-up in another. Juliusson was victorious in the 200 individual medley and placed second to Joe Young in the 100 back. Hakan won the 200 free and finished as the runner-up behind Juliusson in the 200 IM.
Jinq En Phee and Cady Farlow both posted NCAA provisional qualifying times while finishing 1-2 in the 100 breast. They were also 1-2 in the 200 breast, with Farlow winning the longer race.
Newcomer Nikola Bjelajac registered a team season-best time in the 50 free for the second meet in a row, winning the event in his debut at the Burke Aquatic Center.
Joe Cifelli (1-meter and 3-meter diving), Alex Clarke (200 IM), Megan Johnson (200 free) and Jackie Smailis (100 back) also won events Friday.
The Boilermakers return to action Saturday, Jan. 20 for the annual rivalry dual with Indiana. The co-ed dual will be contested in Bloomington this year and get underway at 11 a.m. ET. Live video coverage will be available on BTN2Go.com and the BTN2Go app.
