Boilermakers Win All 10 Swimming Events

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue won all 10 men's swimming events to coast to victory in the team scoring at the annual Indiana Intercollegiates meet, which featured a nine-university field this year.

Senior Adam Noens led the way for the Boilermakers by sweeping the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle. Erik Juliusson won the 200 individual medley, finished as the runner-up in the 100 breaststroke and contributed to the victorious 200 free relay. Eddy Zawatski won the 50 free and swam the leadoff leg on the victorious 200 free relay.

Keith Gill (100 free), Nick McDowell (500 free), Chris Bals (100 breast) and Trent Pellini (100 fly) also won individual events for Purdue.

The Boilermakers finished first of the seven men's teams with 838 points. Ball State (624 points) was first among the seven women's programs. The Purdue women and divers did not compete. The Indiana Wesleyan women competed in their first intercollegiate athletics meet Saturday, finishing fifth.

Nathan Barsanti (50 free) and Marat Amaltdinov (100 fly) won their heats and also contributed to the Boilermakers' victorious 200 medley relay. Joe Young, Grant Lewis, Tim Barth and James Boone also contributed to a relay winner.

Kaleb Gould finished as the runner-up to Noens in the 100 back and won his heat of the 50 free, finishing third overall. Freshman Batuhan Hakan was the runner-up in both the 200 and 500 freestyle.

Purdue continues its fall semester homestand Friday with a co-ed dual vs. Notre Dame. Action begins at 5 p.m. ET.
